Hello, I am leolok in here or you can call me rockshing. I solved the Week 9 Puzzle and I Declared as a Winner!!! chinese chess board setting: 0 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 a b c d e f g h i Red: blue: King f1 king e0 Chariot h6, i6 Chariot a3 Knight g6 -- Cannon a6 -- -- Shi d0, e9 -- Xiang c0, e8 Pawn f6 Pawn c6, d2, e2, e7, g4 Description: Red is facing checkmate situation because blue can use his Chariot to Checkmate Red's king in two ways; one at f3 and the other at a1. Blue's two pawns which close to Red's King are very dangerous. Furthermore, Blue's another pawn in the right side is also dangerous. However, Red can still win the game if and only if Red makes each move correctly. Here is my solution, if you know a better solution, please let me know. Symbols: + = checks, ++ = checkmates, X = Capture, - = same pieces go to the same spot, * = Special Solution: Red: Blue: Note: 1. Chariot i0 + Xiang g0 Blue must give up his Xiang or Red wins by knight f8+ and either Chariot checkmate at h9 or i9 2. Chariot g0 +X Shi f0 3. Knight f8 + King e9 4. Knight d7 + King d9 Blue's king moves to e8, e0 or f9 will result immediately checkmate 5. Chariot h9 + Shi d0-e9 Red's Chariot needs to control 9th and 0th Lines to create powerful attack later on. Blue's Shi at f0 must not move to e9 or checkmate in few moves 6. Knight b8 + King d0 Blue can't move king up or knight captures blue's xiang and uses Chariot to checkmate in 4 moves. 7. Chariot f0 +X Shi f0 *Red left his Chariot in the 0th Line is for this powerful attack and helps his other Chariot to control the game 8. Chariot d9 + King e0 9. Cannon a0 + Chariot a0 X *Blue has to trade his Chariot with Red's Cannon to save the game. Blue's Xiang moves to a8 will result in immediately checkmate when Red moves knight to c0. That also seal off Blue's immediately checkmate. 10. Knight a0 X Shi e9 Blue must move Shi up in order to let his King escape the checkmate in 2 moves 11. Pawn g6 Pawn g3 Red's King must control the F line. Knight in c9 in this move will result a draw in the later end game. Blue's two upfront pawns can't move, but the right side pawn is defenseless for Red at this moment 12. Knight c9 Shi d8 Blue's give up his Shi will help his King escape the checkmate. 13. Chariot d8 +X King e9 14. Chariot h8 King d9 Red's Chariot forces blue's King out of position and helps Red to defense at 2nd Line 15. Chariot h9 + King d0 Red's Chariot checks with purpose, it gives his knight an opportunities to capture Blue's middle while Blue's King is being checked. Blue's King can't move to d8 or checkmate next move 16. Chariot h2 Pawn f3 Red is ready to trade his Chariot with Blue's two pawns. Blue can move his other pawns d6 or e7, but it gives Red's Knight a way to nail down Blue's pawn and force a trade in other to save its Chariot, and then Blue will certainly loses this game. 17. Pawn f6 Pawn f3-f2 + Red's pawn is locked up Blue's middle pawn while waiting for Blue's pawns force to trade his Chariot 18. Chariot f2 X Pawn f2 +X 19. King f2 X Pawn c5 20. Knight b7 Pawn d5 21. Knight d6 King e0 That is what Red's Chariot did in the 15th move in order to win one position over Blue 22. Knight c8 Xiang e8 Blue can move his Pawn to d4 or e5, but Xiang to e8 helps defense Red knight to c6 23. Knight e7 X Pawn d4 24. Pawn f7 Pawn d3 Blue moves Pawn to e4 will lost position when Red moves Knight to d5 25. Knight d5 Xiang g0 Blue's only way to win is first control the E line. Xaing down is for Pawn at d2 to be effective and control e2 26. Pawn e7 King d0 Blue can't move xiang and two pawns or lose position, it moves to d0 or e9. It does not matter, but I believe d0 is better 27. King f3 Pawn e2 Red is trying to force Blue's pawn at d3 to move down 28. Knight b4 Pawn d3-d2 Blue can't move pawn to c3 because Red's King will move to e3, then Blue either lose pawn at e2 or checkmate in few moves 29. King e3 King e0 30. Knight c6 King e9 Blue can move pawn, but Red can check Blue's King and get better position 31. Knight d8 Pawn f2 Blue's King can't move out of E line in this move, or it will lose Xiang and lose the game faster 32. Knight f7 + King e0 33. Knight h8 Pawn c2 Blue is defenseless. Lose it's Xiang or Xiang to i8 will result checkmate in 5 moves 34. Knight g0 X King f0 35. Pawn e8 Pawn d2 Red's Pawn moves to f7 will checkmate Blue's King by 3 moves by its Pawn or Knight(1. Pawn f7, 2. Pawn f8, 3. Knight i9, 4. g8 ++) or (1. Pawn f7, 2. Pawn f8, 3. Knight h8, 4. Pawn f9 ++) 36. Pawn e9 Pawn f2-e2 It does not matter how Blue moves 37. Knight i9 Pawn f2 38. Knight g8 ++ (Blue resign) or you can view it in the java game below, here are the java chinese chess moves, they are the same moves I had on the above moves, just different symbols Start 1.
