Chao,

It is possible for a program to login to CXQ.
Robo logs in to CXQ this way. It is not about java applet, it's about logging in to the server and transmitting data. The graphical user interface is for users who need to look at the board and then make the move. The move is then transmitted as data to server and the return move made by the other guy meant that data is received and displayed on the board as piece moved.

There are many ports to login to CXQ, those are possible ports for programs to log in to. You can see it when you just log in. It'll show "connecting to port....".

The java applet will not know if it is human or program logging in. As long as you have identified yourself with a username and password supplied, you can connect to the ports and start playing.

To prevent such programs from logging on to CXQ, ports will have to be blocked... but it is just not practical to do so.

This topic will tell you why some small details should be observed during the game.
Look at the 2 games below:

For the first game, black has got the initiative, red wasted few moves by moving the pawn. Black is in advantage.

Second game, the 7th pawn moved by red has no immediate/obvious effect now, thus it is considered as "wasted". Morever, once the black rook has occupied a lane, black has a good move, P3+1.

Thus, from the above, that is why people should take note about the direction of the cannon. C2.5 and C8.5 has a big impact on the game.
