In my opinion there is one way to determine the winner in a Xiang Qi match when anybody wants to organize a tournament.
A serious mistake committed by the occidental chess federation is to make an odd number of games, so the one ho wins more games wins the match. This is a mistake because we don?t know what kind of advantage or disadvange means to be the one who starts the game. So if that advantage or disadvantage does exist one of the player would be at disadvantage when an odd number of games are played.
What I propose is a system in which an even number of games are played with aq system of three kinds of scoring.

1ST grade scoring:

Each victory gives 2 points

Each draw gives 1 point

Each defeat gives 0 points

2ND grade scoring:

The player only achieves this kind of scoring when is defeated. When a player is defeated on a game he earns as many points as moves his opponent made before to achieve the victory in the game. The sense of this is that there is more merit in the defeat when the more moves are required to be defeated.
In the case of a draw there?s points for nobody.

3RD grade scoring:

This Scoring is for the left time of the winner of the game, the player adds all the time he didn?t use in the games he won. This can be used in the two tipipical timer mode (a fixed time for the whole game or an initial time with additional time per move).
In case of draw each player earns the time he did not used in the game, but it is important to say that the two players must have made the same number of moves before drawing is decided.

Final considerations:

1.-The winner of the match is the one who earns more points in the 1ST grade.
2.- If the two players have the same number of points, the match is won by the one who has earned more points in the second grade.
3.- If there is still a tie the match is won by the one who accumulated more time in his victories and draws.

Timer mode recommended
For some reasons I rather prefer mode of an initial time with additional time per move with some additional rules like:
Minimum time removed:
It doesn?t matter how much fast is a move made, a minimum of time is removed. This is to avoid game?s turning to a competition of who moves faster.
Maximum time per move:
It doesn?t matter how much available time a player has. No one can exceed a maximum time per move like 3 minutes

Why are we forcing our brain cells to work harder to think of another way to re-invent the wheel? Is this another form of exercise?

Why do I always have a U even though im not using any word processors, or web surfing. How could I get rid of it?

You may not done what you have listed above, but if you just take your mouse away from the chess board many time during the game, you will get a U. Try this: don't use your account for a couple of days, see if that solve your problems.

Good luck biggrin.gif
